100 % Australian Made and Owned
Fab Slabs is a family owned and operated business and all of our products are proudly 100% Australian made.
All cutting boards or chopping boards are milled, kiln dried and manufactured on the Sunshine Coast, about 1 hour North of Brisbane.
Both Paul and Ricky are very much hands on in the production of the cutting boards to maintain a high standard of quality.
We kiln dry all our own timber in our state of the art solar kilns. These kilns are capable of drying around 7500 boards at a time.
Kiln drying stabilises the timber and prevents it from cracking, twisting, warping, cupping and going mouldy.
Dry timber = stable timber
Our cutting boards are made from one single slab of kiln dried timber
All Fab Slabs Camphor Laurel cutting boards are made from one single slab of kiln dried Camphor Laurel. Fab Slabs does not use multiple pieces of timber laminated together to make cutting boards.
We produce high quality timber boards that are designed to be durable & stay in beautiful condition even after extended usage. We use Camphor Laurel trees as they are an introduced species In Australia and the timber is naturally and permanently antibacterial.
Kiln drying kills borers, air drying doesn’t
Kiln drying stabilises the timber and prevents it from cracking, twisting, warping, cupping and going mouldy.
Dry timber = stable timber
Wet timber can and probably will go mouldy, crack, twist and warp.
